BEIRUT, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Qatar donated 30 buses to Lebanon's public transport system on Tuesday, officials said, as part of Doha's ongoing support for the country.

The buses were handed over at the headquarters of the Railway Authority and Public Transport in Beirut's Mar Mikhael district, supporting government efforts to revive public transportation as an essential service, according to Lebanon's Elnashra news website.

The ceremony was attended by Lebanese officials and Qatar's ambassador to Lebanon.

Lebanese authorities said the buses would reinforce existing routes and extend service to underserved areas, allowing commuters to travel more safely, comfortably, and at lower cost. ■
